Although not cheap..., and I would need a new motherboard. These can run super stable and cool at 5ghz on water.

I wouldnt. Real world use for most will see no advantage over the 4 core 8 thread I have now.

Costs twice as much as AMD's Threadripper 1950X, and 1950x hangs with it pretty good.

Also, i9 7980xe only capable of utilizing 44 pci-e lanes, while Threadripper chip will get you 64 pci-e lanes.
